Norwich v West Ham: Canaries to scrap it out for Hughton

Published:

The knifes are out for Norwich boss Chris Hughton after a difficult winless run of four games was capped by a 7-0 drubbing at Manchester City. However, when you consider the Canaries still managed a draw within this ‘crisis’ and the other opponents consisted of the Premier League’s top two, they can edge this one against West Ham.

Norwich have actually only lost three of their last 14 top-flight encounters at Carrow Road and although Chelsea escaped with victory a few games back, the Blues still required two goals within the last five minutes to take the spoils after a tough 90 minutes.

Like a lot of struggling teams, Norwich’s main problem is scoring goals. During their last home match against Cardiff which they eventually drew 0-0, Hughton’s side managed 10 shots on target without finding the net, to the Welsh side’s four.

Scrapping to save their manager now though, Norwich can get back to winning ways at 7/5 with Ladbrokes, by overcoming one of the Premier League’s meanest defences.

Norwich drew-up the blueprint when defeating defensively robust Southampton 1-0 in August and it’ll be that sort of scoreline which can see them home here and silence the Hughton doubters.

The 1-0 home win is a sizzling 7/1, made all the more plausible by the fact the Hammers have not scored in four of their five away games in the league to date.

Meanwhile, backing Norwich to win with under 2.5 total goals to be scored in the match may just be the ripest cherry on the bunch at 4/1.

A decent back-up bet which covers a reverse in fortunes for the home side is the under 1.5 goals in the game on its own at 21/10.

This will not be pretty, but when faced with similar adversity last season, Norwich dug themselves out and it can begin here against the Hammers.
