Liverpool v Fulham: Rodgers’ side to go goal crazy at Anfield

Published:

After defeat to Arsenal last weekend, expect Liverpool to bounce back against Fulham at Anfield with goals – and plenty of them.

Brendan Rodgers’ side came off second best at the Emirates and now find themselves five points adrift of the Gunners at the top of the Premier League.

But the visit of strugglers Fulham to Merseyside gives Liverpool an excellent opportunity to get back on track and rediscover their touch in front of goal.

Since a 4-1 victory over Crystal Palace, Fulham have shipped nine goals in three matches in all competitions and with Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge in opposition, the Ladbrokes News team anticipate their defensive frailties to continue.

The Reds ran out 4-0 winners against the Cottagers at Anfield last season and the home side are 12-5 with Ladbrokes to go goal crazy and repeat the feat with four or more goals against the west London club.

For the more cautious among you, the Reds are evens to score two to three against a side they did the double over last season, scoring seven goals in the process.

If you think history will repeat itself, a recurrence of last December’s scoreline returns odds of 10/1.

Elsewhere, Rodgers’ has received a boost with the news Glen Johnson is fit to reclaim his place in the side.

The England right-back was a huge miss in the 2-0 defeat to Arsenal and his presence will allow Liverpool to persist with their 3-5-2 formation.

Jose Enrique is also in a race against time to be fit for the clash with Fulham but if both he and Johnson play, Liverpool will have defensive stability and options out wide to hurt the visitors.

Therefore, backing Liverpool to win to nil at 17/20 could be a smart bet on the Anfield action.
