Egan emerging as contender to I’m A Celebrity favourite Essex
Published:Kian Egan may be about to turn up the jungle heat on Joey Essex with the Irish pop star emerging as the most viable challenger to the current runaway favourite for this year’s I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!
At present the TOWIE star is being backed as a near certainty to win the series at 2/5 following a series of standout performances in the Bushtucker Trials completed thus far, with the harebrained Essex also winning fans with his unique brand of witticisms.
But any suggestion that the competition to win the jungle crown is a foregone conclusion could yet be quashed by the emergence of Egan.
The Irishman can be backed at 4/1 to win the series after providing a fun-loving and warm counterpoint to the snappy and over-sensitive Matthew Wright and some of the show’s other less popular additions.
Alfonso Ribeiro, for instance, has gone from outsider for victory to near-certainty to leave, following a series of long-winded, self-important monologues that have left his fellow campmates bored to tears at certain points.
The man once known and loved as Carlton Banks is now a rank outsider at 50/1 to win and though he remains unlikely to be the first evictee at 8/1, an early departure certainly looks imminent.
Egan, meanwhile, will have the ideal opportunity to stake his claim to be top of the pile during the next Bushtucker Trial, with the Westlife man picked by the public to star in the latest endurance test.
Should he excel, or at the very least amuse, then the crown could yet be his, with a male winner looking highly likely at the very least, with odds of 1/8 suggesting it is a near certainty.
Rebecca Adlington still leads the way for the girls, with the Olympic winner available at 6/4 to be the last female standing.
