Chelsea v West Brom: Chelsea to stick to norm of win to nil
Home comforts will see Chelsea get their Premier League title challenge back on track against West Brom.
The Blues put a disappointing defeat to Newcastle behind them in the Champions League, cruising to a 3-0 win over Schalke, and the Baggies can expect similarly short shrift at Stamford Bridge.
Jose Mourinho’s men, who have won all of their domestic clashes at the Bridge this term, are priced at an understandably short 2/7 to collect another three points on their own patch, with Ladbrokes chalking the visitors up at a mammoth 9/1. The draw is a 9/2 alternative.
Such hefty prices are to be expected given the fact that Chelsea have scored at least two goals in every home outing this term, conceding just three league goals in that time.
Steve Clarke’s side have already usurped gargantuan odds on the road once this season, winning 2-1 at Old Trafford, so they shouldn’t be off-hand disregarded in west London, especially when you consider that only a Luis Suarez/Daniel Sturridge-inspired Liverpool are the only hosts to claim maximum points at West Brom’s expense in 2013/14.
The Baggies have shared the spoils in the other three games, but Chelsea are a much more ferocious beast than any they’ve tamed thus far. The four goals West Brom shipped at Anfield may not be replicated, but a punt on over 2.5 home goals is well worth a dabble at 6/5.
West Brom are not the only team to have struggled away at Chelsea, but having only scored a solitary goal at the Bridge in seven career Premier League visits, their record at this venue is particularly poor.
It could inspire a wager on fewer than 0.5 away goals at a steadily-priced 4/5, though the home win to nil is a superior proposition at 1/1, given this has been the common occurrence previously in this fixture.
