Champions League challengers can lift game in Serie A treble

Published:

Antonio Conte and Maximiliano Allegri may have both felt Spanish pain at the hands of Real Madrid and Barcelona in their respective Champions League ties this week, but their respective Juventus and AC Milan charges are well-positioned to bounce back this weekend.

The two Serie A giants can be backed to win as part of a tempting treble that includes in-form Verona that pays odds of nearly 10/1.

Hellas Verona to beat Genoa @ 21/10

Both Verona and Genoa have recorded some positive results in recent weeks, but it’s the visitors who look the most likely to claim victory here having won five of their last six league fixtures, with their only reversal coming against Champions League chasing Inter Milan.

The newly-promoted team recorded an impressive 4-1 away win over Bologna a few weeks back and with Genoa winning just two of the five Serie A fixtures they have played at home, with results including a 5-2 loss to Fiorentina, it looks like Luca Toni & co. could be celebrating again.

AC Milan to beat Chievo @ 1/1

The Rossoneri may be enduring a miserable run at present but that’s nothing compared to Chievo, who lie bottom of Serie A with just a single win and five points to their name so far this term.

Verona’s other club ended a run of six straight defeats with a 0-0 draw last time out against lowly Bologna, but having lost each of their last 13 meetings with Milan, it’s difficult to see anything but three points for the away side here.

Juventus to beat Napoli @ 8/11

The Old Lady have won each of their last five Serie A fixtures at the Juventus Stadium, scoring 15 goals in the process and should be backed to win this top of the table clash after emerging victorious from each of Napoli’s last four visits to Turin.

With Rafa Benitez’s team losing two of their last four away games in all competitions and failing to keep a clean sheet throughout that run, this one looks pretty black and white.
