Bottom-two appearance primes Rough Copy for X Factor final spot

Published:

Having forgotten her lyrics in successive weeks, it was a bit of a turn-up to see Tamera Foster avoid the X Factor sing-off in week seven, leaving Rough Copy to eventually be saved at the expense of Hannah Barrett.

It will now be intriguing to see whether she has a better memory in the quarter finals, which is going to be a big ask, bearing in mind that this is the first stage of the competition where the five remaining acts will have to perform two songs.

Sympathy votes must be a big factor in Tamera surviving in the last two weeks and her time on the show must be wearing thin, especially as she has been given the penultimate performance slot in each of the last three weeks, which is far more favourable than an earlier spot in the running order.

The big factor which could decide whether she progresses further, will be the decision over a quarter-final sing-off, which there has been in each of the last three years. Tamera is almost certain to be in the bottom two, but may not occupy last place.

Where her chances of making it through the quarter finals are on the slimmer side, one act that should now be safe until at least the semi finals are Rough Copy.

A bottom-two appearance in week seven had not proved too much of a negative in more recent X Factor series, with JLS, Olly Murs, Cher Lloyd, Amelia Lily and James Arthur all finding themselves in this position.

All of these acts went on to reach the final and there is no reason to believe that Rough Copy can’t do the same. They certainly shouldn’t be the rank outsiders of the final five to win the X Factor at 12/1.
