Atletico goal minutes and a Porto win stand out in Group G
Things don’t get much more predictable than this. Atletico top Group G with three wins from three and Austria Vienna are bottom on zero points, with an identical goal-scoring tally.
Therefore, the 1/9 on Atletico winning may not be the most generous price, but is hard to oppose, while the 13/20 on the home win to nil is far more charitable.
Given that Atletico have also scored at least two in all of their fixtures at the Vicente Calderon this season, there may also be some mileage in the 21/20 that they triumph in a game that witnesses over 3.5 goals.
This bet is aided by the fact the visitors arrive in the lacklustre form of one win in eight outings in all competitions.
Meanwhile, predicting the minutes that Atletico’s likely goals will arrive could also prove profitable, as they have scored between the 30th minute and the half-time whistle in five of their seven home games this season.
An Atletico goal in this 15-minute period against Vienna is priced at 6/5.
Zenit may have won the reverse fixture in Portugal, but the result doesn’t tell the whole story. Despite having Hector Herrera sent off in the opening six minutes, Porto still posed the greater attacking threat and had more shots, before being eventually undone by Aleksandr Kerzhakov’s late goal.
Therefore, it is Porto that hold the most appeal here at 19/10 to secure victory and move back into the ascendancy in the race for the second qualification spot to the knockout rounds behind Atletico.
More good news for Porto is that they have prevailed on four of their five career showdowns away to Russian opposition, although Zenit have never been beaten on their own patch by Portuguese visitors.
Jackson Martinez has three goals in as many away games for Porto too and is enticing at 15/8 to net at any time in the 90 minutes.
