Anderlecht to build on PSG draw with a positive Benfica result
Published:Group C remains one of the more open groups in the Champions League, with all four teams at least mathematically still able to qualify for the knockout rounds.
The winner of PSG’s game with Olympiakos is guaranteed to progress, while Benfica only need to draw with Anderlecht to ensure they at least finish third in the group, which would be enough to keep their European adventure going in the Europa League.
Anderlecht have to win their final two group games to have any chance of qualification and their prospects are improved here by the fact they have never lost at home in Europe to Portuguese opposition.
Interestingly, Anderlecht haven’t scored at home in the group stages yet and neither have Benfica away, but the Belgians have actually had more shots in both of their outings at the Stade Constant.
They could shade this at 11/4, but the draw no bet market does offer a bit more leeway.
With all of Anderlecht’s last three Champions League games also featuring a goal in the 15-minute block between the hour mark and the 75th minute, another goal in this period at 33/20 is worthy of consideration.
Paris Saint-Germain only need a point from this clash to confirm their advancement to the knockout stages of the competition and this is against an Olympiakos side that they have already beaten 4-1 in Greece.
The good news for the French champions is that they are unbeaten in seven of eight games from Greece, which includes seven victories and just the one total goal conceded.
However, Olympiakos have avoided defeat in all 13 games since last playing PSG, which includes 11 victories. 15/2 could prove a monster price on a seventh straight success for the visitors.
But the safer money has to be on both teams finding the target, especially with two of Europe’s form strikers, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Konstantinos Mitroglou, in opposition, who already have 10 goals between them in the competition this season.
