Aguero goals will spur City to victory over Tottenham

Sergio Aguero believes he has played a crucial role in the limited success Manchester City have enjoyed this season and with the 25-year-old in fine form his importance could be underlined with goals against Tottenham this weekend.

The Argentine is the current joint top-scorer in the Premier League alongside Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge and is available at odds of evens to score anytime against Spurs.

Aguero certainly has the form to do just that, having averaged a goal a game at home for City in the top flight this season and it would appear that the former Atletico Madrid man is all too aware of his importance this term.

“I’m playing well,” he told reporters this week “I’ve had a good start to the season.

“I think the majority of my goals have helped the team get three points, and that’s very important.”

After drawing a blank away to Sunderland the Argentine was back to his best for his country against Bosnia Herzegovina this week, grabbing a decisive brace in a 2-0 win over the World Cup debutants.

And there is every reason to think that the goals will continue to flow at home to Spurs, with the Citizen’s home form and recent history against Tottenham suggesting Aguero to score and City to win could be the bet of the day at odds of 13/8.

The Sky Blues boast a 100 per cent record at Eastlands this term, amassing 20 goals in just five league games while Manuel Pellegrini’s team have won each of their last three meetings with the Lilywhites at the Etihad.

Aguero found the net in City’s 2-1 win over Spurs last term and with odds of 4/1 on the forward opening the scoring come Sunday, backing another star showing could pay dividends.

With a haul of five in his last three appearances at the ground, goals are definitely the order of the day and though a tad outlandish, odds of 20/1 on a hat-trick for the in-form forward could be one speculative shout to sit up and take notice of.
