Adlington lengths ahead in Queen of the Jungle betting

Miss Universe GB Amy Willerton may have captured the attention of Joey Essex on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! but when it comes to stealing the nation’s hearts she is a distant second to Rebecca Adlington.

The 24-year-old is priced at 11/10 to be Queen of the Jungle – as the last remaining female contestant and given the emotional strain she is currently under, she is likely to garner justified sympathy from the British public.

Speaking in a candid episode of the jungle reality series this week, the Mansfield-born star admitted that, despite sharing the record as Great Britain’s most decorated female Olympian, she faces a daily barrage of abuse from ‘trolls’ on Twitter.

This issue came to a head during a group discussion that focused on the appearance of resident beauty queen Willerton, who vehemently defended her career choices and the message it sends to young women across the country.

It ultimately proved too much for the Adlington who later admitted to feeling “insecure” on the show following the Twitter comments as well as highly-publicised jibes from the likes of stand-up comedian Frankie Boyle.

In the end she was forced to seek solace away from the group, bursting into tears in private as she confessed to the I’m A Celebrity crew that she felt inferior to Willerton because of her looks.

Fortunately help was at hand in the form of Laila Morse, aka Big Mo, who rightly reassured her that she was “100 times better” than the model and a “beautiful” person to boot.

The incident evidently had an effect on viewers with Willerton subsequently put forward by the public to complete the next gruelling Bushtucker Trial – replacing their previous favourite target Matthew Wright, who was ruled out of the challenge on medical grounds.

Big Mo, meanwhile, will have most likely done her own chances of survival the world of good with the Eastenders actress now level with the Miss Universe entrant in the Queen of the Jungle betting at odds of 7/2.

Adlington remains the favourite and as a contestant of real substance, and though she boasts two gold and two bronze medals from a glittering sports career, this could well prove the most satisfying title of all.
