Tendulkar 7/2 to retire from cricket with one last ton

It’s the day millions of Indians hoped they’d never see, as their cricketing hero Sachin Tendulkar has finally decided to retire from all forms of the game after he plays his 200th and final Test match against West Indies in November.

In honour of this cricketing legend hanging up the willow for good, bookmakers Ladbrokes are offering a series of special bets to accompany the 2nd Test between India and West Indies.

The firm believe Tendulkar could sign out in style and deem it a 7/2 shot he hits one final ton against the West Indies in the 2nd Test or, for the romantics out there 16/1 says the ‘Little Master’ racks up a double-hundred in his 200th game.

On the theme of Tendulkar going out in style, punters are offered 33/1 that he manages to surpass his own highest Test knock of 248 and it’s 8/1 that the 40-year-old batting wizard is awarded the Man of the Match.

Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “Tendulkar’s cost us a fortune over the years and in true Sachin style we’re expecting him to hit us for six one last time.”

Meanwhile, for those punters of a less romantic disposition there are a couple of options for the great man’s illustrious career to end a little more underwhelmingly.

It’s 10/1 that Tendulkar suffers a duck in his last ever Test match, while 5/2 says he’ll get given out LBW against the Windies.

Finally, Ladbrokes offer 8/1 that Tendulkar scores the most runs in the first innings and India claim victory.

No matter what happens in his final ever stint at the crease for his country, Tendulkar can retire an incredibly proud man, as he’s still the highest scorer in both Tests and ODIs, with 15,837 runs in 198 Tests and 18,426 runs in 463 ODIs.
