Samaras and Giroud receive mega Champions League price boosts

Punters take note. Ladbrokes have pumped up the prices on Arsenal’s main man Olivier Giroud to score first when Napoli visit the Emirates, while the same firm have extended the odds on Celtic’s Greek goal-getter Georgios Samaras to bag first against Barcelona in the Champions League also.

As Arsenal entertain Napoli in Group F ‘of death’, it’s time to get behind Giroud to land the first blow against the Italians, as Ladbrokes have boosted the Frenchman’s odds from 11/2 to 6/1.

Giroud has started the season in fine fettle, racking up five goals from just nine appearances, carrying on from a prolific pre-season with the Gunners.

Furthermore, the Frenchman has displayed a real penchant for opening the scoring, as four of those five strikes this season have represented the initial goal of the game.

Meanwhile, Celtic take on the mighty Barcelona in Group H, minus Lionel Messi, in a repeat of their group stage match-up from last season.

Of course, we all know what happened there, as Celtic ran out 2-1 winners in one of the most famous nights in the club’s recent history at Parkhead.

Now, as they entertain the Catalan giants again Ladbrokes are offering hugely generous odds on Samaras to open the scoring at odds of 16/1, boosted out from 14/1 until the match kicks-off.

The shaggy-haired Greek striker couldn’t be in better nick either, having honed his sights with an SPL hat-trick against Kilmarnock in the game previous to Barcelona’s visit.

Samaras has real Champions League pedigree for the Scots also, having notched three times in the group stages last season, including that opening goal in the agonising last-gasp defeat in the Camp Nou.
