Man City v Everton: Settle on hosts opening the scoring

Published:

Both managers may be involved in this fixture for the first time, but the fact that Everton have triumphed in seven of their last 10 meetings with Manchester City still makes it difficult to truly get behind the hosts to secure three points.

Under normal circumstances, 8/13 on a Manchester City home victory against a team not typically seen as one of the big six, would not only be a price punters would bite an arm off for, but bookmakers would probably see both their legs gone as well.

However, two defeats in a week, where they have conceded three times in each, is hardly form to write home about.

Meanwhile, Everton arrive at the Etihad with the only undefeated Premier League record to protect and their aforementioned status as City’s chief bogey team to preserve.

Roberto Martinez also displayed an ability to nullify City’s abundance of attacking riches in the last FA Cup final too.

Therefore, some will certainly find Everton’s odds of 9/2 to beat Man City as one of the value offerings in this latest round of Premier League fixtures, with the draw on offer at 14/5.

Alternatively, Everton can be backed at 5/4 in the double chance market to either win or draw, with 10/3 on offer for those to back the Toffees in the draw no bet market.

If playing it as safe as possible is the name of the game, backing Man City to score the first goal of the game at 9/20 may prove the best option, even if the price isn’t the most attractive.

Everton have failed to score the opener in all of their three Premier League away outings thus far, with City breaking the deadlock in all of their top-flight appearances at home.
