Hull v Aston Villa: Tigers to taste first home defeat of season
Hull boss Steve Bruce will be thrilled by picking up seven points from nine available at the KC Stadium so far, but Aston Villa’s counter attacking menace is set to deliver the Tigers their first home defeat.
All credit to Hull for a really bright start to life back in the unforgiving surrounds of the Premier League, in which only title contenders Chelsea and Manchester City have taken maximum points off them.
Nevertheless, Aston Villa – fresh from a rousing victory over Man City – are a side so geared towards counter attacking, that whenever they hit the road in the Premier League, three points is a strong possibility, and the Villans can steal the spoils here at 19/10.
Seven points from a possible nine makes good reading for any home side in the top tier, though a quick look at Hull’s opponents and the actual scorelines in their opening three fixtures at the KC, gives plenty to suggest Villa can win it.
Hull’s first victims were a Norwich side still getting to grips with many new faces, who went down 1-0 in a limp display, while fellow promotees Cardiff stole a point in a 1-1 draw, before a completely toothless West Ham outfit were sunk by a hugely controversial penalty.
It’s therefore been increasingly likely, that the first side to arrive on Humberside with a few more weapons in their armoury could get the better of the plucky Tigers.
Villa can be that team. Aside from a loss at Chelsea, which they can still feel aggrieved about, Paul Lambert’s pacy side have won away at Arsenal and most recently Norwich.
With players such as Andreas Weimann and Gabby Agbonlahor blessed with lightning speed, Villa thrive when opposing sides come onto them and leave spaces, as Arsenal did to their peril in their opener.
To increase the fun, considering all three of Hull’s home games have totalled four goals, why not plump for the 19/4 on Aston Villa to win, with under 2.5 goals in the match.
