Higuain ready to show Arsenal exactly what they’re missing

It was a deal that looked as good as done in the summer, but as Napoli roll into town to face Arsenal in the Champions League, Gonzalo Higuain will be wearing sky blue and not red and white as Gunners fans had hoped.

Four goals in just six starts for his new club has ensured former Real Madrid star Higuain has already endeared himself to Napoli fans after his big money move to the ambitious Italian club.

The Argentine poacher’s goals have already set about justifying a reported £34m transfer fee and the irony will not be lost on Arsenal fans, if Higuian scores a goal against them in their vital Group F Champions League encounter.

The 25-year-old marked his European debut for Napoli with the first goal in a 2-1 win over last Borussia Dortmund on matchday one of the Champions League and Higuain is handsomely priced at 7/1 to do the same at the Emirates, while he’s 11/4 to notch at any time.

It was no secret that Arsene Wenger was chasing the player in the summer transfer window, but while the Londoners were preoccupied with tabling a bid for Luis Suarez, Rafa Benitez seized the opportunity to swoop.

After Arsenal’s impressive start to the season – which sees them top of the Premier League standings after six games and perched on top of Group F in the Champions League after beating Marseille
2-1 away – the issue of failing to sign another striker has been largely brushed under the carpet.

However, an injury to first choice front man Olivier Giroud would be all it takes for it to rear its head again, as Wenger only really has freshly returned outcast Nicklas Bendtner as back-up to the Frenchman.

This fixture looks tailor made for Higuain to show Arsenal that they should have gone all out to sign him, instead of pursuing their feeble attempts to land Suarez.
