Grosjean and Lotus can continue to shine in the Indian Sun
Romain Grosjean has been in mightily impressive form of late, recording successive podiums for the first time in his career, after his third-place finish in Japan.
The Frenchman has now registered four top-three finishes in 2013 and looks to be the hot driver on the grid, besides the untouchable Sebastian Vettel.
Retirements aside, the 27-year-old has not been out of the points since the British Grand Prix and looks nailed on to register again at 1/5.
He has scored three of his podium successes in the preceding seven races and the switch to a longer wheelbase on the Lotus E21 has clearly suited him. So backing him to thrive once again and find himself on the steps at 13/8 should tempt many.
Pirelli’s decision to opt for soft and medium tyres at the Buddh Interntaional Circuit will also be music to the ears of the Lotus team.
The Enstone-based outfit’s machine does not seem to wear out the tyres as quickly as their rivals and while the choice will debilitate all teams, it is likely to have a lesser impact on Lotus.
That factor also makes the 16/1 on Grosjean to be first past the flag excellent value, with the 7/1 in the betting without Vettel market also tantalising,
Team-mate Kimi Raikkonen was outgunned by his partner in Japan but the rubber factor will no doubt aid him here and it must be remembered that he notched a third and a second in the two races preceding Suzuka.
The Finn is as long as 14/1 to win the race, 6/1 without Vettel and also 6/4 to make the top-three, healthy prices for a man who has stood on the podium eight times already this season.
A retirement in Belgium and an 11th in Italy are the only blots on a points-filled copybook and 1/7 about year another top-10 finish for the 34-year-old cannot be ignored.
