Getafe to keep out Bilbao for a fifth straight win

Published:

After one win from their opening five matches in the Primera Liga, Getafe have since entered a purple patch with four victories in succession.

They’ve leapt up the league table, and thanks to a superior goal difference now sit above their latest opponents Athletic Bilbao, who have won just twice in their last five.

Getafe did the double over Bilbao last season and are 13/8 to win here, something they did back in March with a 1-0 scoreline and will be looking to add further woe to a Bilbao outfit which has lost it’s last three league games away from home.

Luis Garcia Plaza’s side have a very good record against Bilbao in the Coliseum Alfonso Perez, and are unbeaten in the last nine meetings at the venue.

Bilbao are 13/8 to win at Getafe, but that would require scoring, something they haven’t done in three of their last four visits to the club just south of Madrid.

With that in mind, many may subsequently find the 10/3 price with Ladbrokes on Getafe to win to nil particularly enticing, whilst also noting that the club have kept clean sheets in three of their last four matches in the Spanish top tier.

The Azulones’ defence has been the bedrock of their climb up the order, but they’ve been strong offensively too thanks to Pedro Leon who has netted three of the club’s last four goals.

Of Getafe’s last four victories, three have come by way of a 2-0 scoreline, something which can be backed at 12/1 here.

That 2-0 scoreline was also witnessed in Athletic’s last away match at Granada.
