Everton v Hull has value to contribute most Prem goals

Being the early televised kick-off and arguably the biggest game among the Premier League Saturday fixtures, there is every possibility that Liverpool’s trip to Newcastle will get the longest spot up first on Match of the Day.

Being the highest-scoring match among the fixtures would also help in this regard and it is 6/1 that St James’ Park plays host to the most goals in the top-flight of the eight Saturday encounters.

Liverpool’s 6-0 win in this fixture last season inspires confidence, alongside the fact that these two have met 38 times without drawing 0-0.

However, in terms of locating some longer-priced value in this market for top-scoring game, it is Everton’s home meeting with Hull that has the most appeal at 15/2.

Hull have conceded twice in all three of their Premier League away games thus far, while Everton have let in nine in their last four fixtures in all competitions.

These four games have also seen no fewer than four goals scored in each and with Romelu Lukaku scoring for fun with five in four appearances for club and country, it would be no surprise to see goals at Goodison Park.

Two matches top the betting to be the highest scoring Saturday fixture at 4/1.

The first of which is Chelsea’s home game with Cardiff, but it is not typically the Jose Mourinho way to thump teams and the Blues have scored exactly twice in their last eight Premier League outings at Stamford Bridge.

Throw in that David Marshall has made more saves that any other Premier League goalkeeper this season and Chelsea are without the in-form Andre Schurrle and this decreases the likelihood of a vast number of goals.

Arsenal’s clash at the Emirates with Norwich is the other at 4/1 and the fact that the Canaries have found the net in seven successive league meetings with Arsenal does inspire some confidence for a high-scoring fixture.

But Norwich have only managed one on the road in three games this season and have drawn blanks in front of goal on seven of their last 11 Premier League away days.

Arsenal also have a big Champions League game in midweek with Borussia Dortmund, which does increase the possibility that they will not have all cannons loaded here.
