Etihad crowd to be entertained in Man City v Everton

Published:

Manchester City’s fans might not have been delighted with the pasting they received from Bayern Munich, but they have been spoilt by the amount of goals they have witnessed this season.

Four of their five home games have seen at least three goals, and it is worth backing that trend to continue at 3/4 when Everton come to town.

Three of Everton’s four away games have seen over 2.5 goals, and their past two league games have both been 3-2 thrillers.

Only two of City’s nine matches in all competitions have had less than three goals, and each of their past five has gone over the mark.

Everton started in sluggish fashion this season, drawing their first three matches, but since their late flurry of transfer business saw Romelu Lukaku, Gareth Barry and James McCarthy arrive at Goodison, they have won three games on the trot.

Chelsea might have hoped loaning Lukaku to Everton would give the Toffees a better chance of taking points off their title rivals, and with three goals in his first two league games, the Belgian is in fine form heading to the Etihad.

Lukaku is 8/1 to open the scoring, and 5/2 to net at any time.

City’s 3-1 loss to Bayern Munich was their first defeat at home this campaign, with Manuel Pellegrini’s team previously dominant in front of their own fans.

In five games at the Etihad, City have scored 16 and conceded four, with Wayne Rooney the only non-Bayern player to breach their defences.

The loss to the German champions was City’s second in a row, after going down 3-2 at Aston Villa in their last league game, and Everton will also fancy their chances of getting a good result at a team they have a fine record against.

Everton have won nine of their last 12 games against City, including six of the last eight. The Toffees are 9/2 to win, with City 3/5 favourites to collect three points.
