Championship Acca: Leicester form pick of the prices

Published:

The Championship kicks back into action and with plenty of fixtures pitting sides against each other who have enjoyed, or endured, contrasting fortunes thus far. This tasty treble pays just over 15/1.

Birmingham v Bolton – Birmingham 11/8

Birmingham are in scintillating form on their own patch having won their last three matches at home, scoring 11 goals in the process. Last time out, they dismantled Millwall 4-0 at St. Andrews and prior to that they defeated Swansea City 3-1 in the Capital One Cup.

Highly-rated Manchester United loanee Jesse Lingard has proved a revelation, bagging five goals in only three appearances and is 9/2 to open the scoring this time.

Contrastingly, Bolton are yet to secure a single league win this term and only Barnsley separate them from the foot of the table. Goals have been in extremely short supply for the Trotters, highlighted by the fact that defender Alex Baptiste is their top scorer with three strikes.

For those expecting an especially comfortable Birmingham win, 10/3 is available on the -1 handicap.

Doncaster v Leicester – Leicester 21/20

High-flying Leicester would be top of the league were it not for goal difference and Nigel Pearson’s men are as short as 7/ to be plying their trade in the top-flight next season.

A 2-1 defeat of Barnsley in their last fixture was their fifth win in a row and it is difficult to envisage anything other than the Foxes picking up another three points at the Keepmoat.

Doncaster have failed to win at home in their last four attempts, losing three of those fixtures while Leicester, who defeated Rovers 4-0 towards the back-end of last season, have been in fine goal-scoring mate fettle, notching 22 in their last 10 games.
Penalty-taker David Nugent has bagged six league goals this term, five of which have been from the spot and looks a banker at evens to score anytime.

Sheffield Wednesday v Ipswich – Draw 23/10

Sheffield Wednesday are one of four clubs in the Championship who have accrued only five points, and like Bolton are yet to secure a win this campaign.

Ipswich currently lie in 10th place having enjoyed a decent start proceedings. The Tractor Boys have so far secured good wins over Brighton, Yeovil and Middlesbrough but are yet to take maximum points on the road.

Their best chance to do so came in midweek when leading 4-1 against Derby at half time. However, a dismal display in the last 45 minutes ensured the Rams a point. Those who fancy another goal-fest can get on over 2.5 goals at 23/20.

That will no doubt prove to be a psychological blow to the East Anglian outfit and with the spoils shared in four of the last six matches between these two, a draw looks the most likely outcome.
