Tottenham v Norwich: Time for Spurs to show Canaries who’s boss

Published:

Andre Villas-Boas will need no reminding of Tottenham’s troubles in trying to beat Norwich last season, with both league games finishing all square, but his new-look side can now emerge from derby defeat with a rousing victory at White Hart Lane.

With the shadow cast by Gareth Bale’s elongated departure to Real Madrid having lifted from over north-east London, Tottenham’s plethora of new signings can set to work trying to get their own names sung from the stands.

Despite finding their scoring shoes effortlessly in the Europa League play-off round, Tottenham’s goal-tally has been limited to just two penalty strikes from Valencia import Roberto Soldado in the league thus far.

Still, a four-goal return from his first five appearances in a Spurs shirt makes the Spaniard a great option at 7/2 to start the scoring against the Canaries.

After drawing with Everton and seeing off Southampton at Carrow Road, this Norwich side will be no pushovers, especially with some exciting new signings in their ranks.

However, Norwich’s 1-0 defeat to Hull on the road, when playing with a man advantage for well over half the match, shows that old habits die hard away from home.

It’s now just a solitary Premier League away win for Chris Hughton’s team in 11 attempts, including eight losses, adding credence to Tottenham’s 4/9 favouritism to take the points.

Added to this, Tottenham’s solidarity at the back is also laudable. Spurs have conceded just once in their opening three league games, making the case for a Tottenham win to nil at 6/4 stand up well.

The Londoners have actually had the most shots of any Premier League team so far too, which means they are probably not far away from producing results in front of goal.

It’s also worth twigging that Tottenham have been inclined to score after the break so far this season, with six out of nine arriving in the second 45.

It’s 5/4 that Tottenham score most goals in the second half, while it’s worth considering the 7/5 on over 2.5 goals for the home side as well.
