Red Bull and Mercedes steal the limelight at F1’s night race

The Singapore Grand Prix is set to be a two-team, four-driver battle if Friday practice is anything to go by.
Red Bull and Mercedes dominated the opening sessions, with their drivers claiming the top four spots in both practice one and two.
Lewis Hamilton was quickest in the opening stint, and the Brit is 3/1 to win his second race of the year at a circuit he has thrived at previously.
The 2008 world champion has continued to have a slight edge over team-mate Nico Rosberg, who is 14/1 for a third triumph of the year.
Sebastian Vettel is yet again in the hunt for victory and is favourite at 4/5, following his success in the last two Grand Prix in Belgium and Italy.
The German has won here for the past two years, and followed up his third place in practice one with a timesheet-topping lap in practice two.
Estranged Red Bull stable-mate Mark Webber edged out the three-time champion in the first session, and finished second as the cars returned to action late in the Singapore night.
The Aussie is in his swansong year in the sport, and though he’s received little luck around the Marina Bay streets in the past, he is a tempting 8/1 to pick up a first win of the year.
Vettel’s closest challenger Alonso was only seventh in the first practice, and sixth in the second, with his Ferrari no match for Red Bull or Mercedes.
Already 53 points behind the German in the title race, Alonso is running out of time to maintain his championship challenge, and is 9/1 to pull a win out of the bag under the lights in south-east Asia – something he has done twice before however.
Two no-scores for Kimi Raikkonen at Spa and Monza all but ended his title hopes, and form in practice suggests a win is a long shot in Singapore, with the Finn 14/1 for a first race win since the opening round in Australia.
