Promotion hopefuls set to turn big profits in League Two treble

Published:

Fleetwood, Exeter and Burton find themselves in the familiar position of the play-off spots at present and they can all remain in the top six after the next round of League Two fixtures with victories.

Fleetwood to beat Bury @ 5/6

Fleetwood flirted with the play-offs for the majority of last season, until a disastrous run-in saw them fade out of contention.

However, the Cod Army have started the current campaign very brightly, winning four of six league openers to leave them fourth at present.

Despite losing one of their three home games to promotion rivals Burton 3-2, a convincing opening day-dispatching of Dagenham and their latest 4-1 thrashing of Torquay at the Highbury Stadium, suggests they’ll not have too much trouble overcoming Bury.

Exeter to win at Northampton @ 19/10

The Grecians had a similar tale of woe as Fleetwood last season when tailing off at the crucial time to miss out on the play-offs.

Nevertheless, like the Cod Army they’ve started 2013/14 looking likely to be mixing it again thanks largely to the stability of keeping long-time manager Paul Tisdale at the helm.

Northampton, meanwhile, have made a woeful start. A draw at home to Scunthorpe last time out ended a run of three straight league defeats and Exeter should be too strong for the Cobblers.

Burton to beat Portsmouth @ 13/10

Fifth-placed Burton need to summon their powers of bounce-back-ability to get a win over relegated Portsmouth after high-flying Oxford saw them off 2-0 at home on their last outing.

The evidence is strong that they can do just that. After all, Gary Rowett’s men very nearly put Premier League Fulham out of the Capital One Cup at the Pirelli Stadium just a few weeks before.

Meanwhile, struggling Pompey make the perfect fodder with just one win from their six games to date.
