Prolific Orient well-placed to extend perfect start

Leyton Orient take a 100 per cent winning record to Brentford on Monday night in a bid to extend their lead at the summit of League One to five points.

Russell Slade’s side are 11/5 to win at GriffinPark, a tantalising price given their success in both facets of the game. They have scored 21 goals whilst conceding just five on their way to winning their first seven matches.

After their near miss last term Brentford will also harbour ambitions of playing in the Championship next season, and will be Leyton Orient’s hardest test away from home so far.

However, while the Bees can boast a strong recent record at home against the visitors, they have lost two and drawn one of the last three meetings.

The sides drew 2-2 in this fixture last season, and one suspects the home side would gladly take a similar result here. On current form Brentford look a short at 5/4 to take the three points.

Uwe Rosler’s men have registered just 10 goals in seven games, and conceded 10 in their last three in all competitions, form which will be music to the ears of Orient strike duo Kevin Lisbie and David Mooney, the source of 13 goals between them in League One to date; both are 2/1 to score anytime.

Orient have scored 11 times in their last three fixtures, and with an average of three goals per game this season. They are 2/1 to register two or three strikes in the game, which it is difficult to argue against on current form, and the fact that they have achieved this feat in two of the last three clashes.

However, the O’s haven’t kept a clean sheet in four, making the price of 8/11 for both teams to score in this encounter an enticing prospect, while the Bees will expect their four-goal showing away at Tranmere ensures they register at least once here.

In that light the price of 17/4 for a Leyton Orient win with over 2.5 goals scored in the match seems a fair one, and should garner much attention.
