North End to blunt Blades in our League One acca

Published:

Ahead of an intriguing selection of League One fixtures this Saturday, we have compiled a tasty little four-fold accumulator that pays out just under £70 from a £1 stake.

Sheffield United v Preston (7/4)

After suffering play-off heartache for two consecutive seasons, Sheffield United were many people’s tip for an automatic promotion spot this term and when David Weir guided his side to an opening-day win over Notts County, those thoughts looked justified.

Six weeks on and the Blades are stuck in the relegation zone with just a Johnstone’s Paint Trophy victory against Burton to show for their efforts. Opponents Preston North End, meanwhile, remain unbeaten in the league, winning their last three.

Port Vale v Coventry City (5/4)

Frank Moussa’s late winner against Gillingham at the weekend lifted Coventry out of the drop-zone, a fine achievement so early in the season considering they were docked 10 points for going into administration.

The Sky Blues accumulated 50 chances in their last two games alone and with Leon Clarke in fine form, they should have too much for a newly-promoted Port Vale side who have only taken four points at home.

Peterborough v MK Dons  (draw 5-2)

Barring a solitary loss to Crawley at the end of August, Peterborough are unbeaten in all competitions after suffering relegation from the Championship last season. The Posh have amassed an impressive 17 goals in seven league matches and dispatched Reading 6-0 in the League Cup.

MK Dons, meanwhile, are unbeaten in League One and have only conceded two goals in their last four. Expect a tight battle at London Road resulting in a share of the spoils.

NottsCounty v Tranmere  (11/5)

Cole Stockton looked to have secured Tranmere a deserved point at home to Brentford last weekend before Adam Forshaw’s injury time winner from the penalty spot.

Bagging three against Brentford will have provided some solace for Ronnie Moore’s men, so expect them to heap the misery on a bottom-placed Notts County side who have conceded eight in their last two.
