Our editors’ bets – Atletico to thump sorry Almeria, plus more…

Published:

Ok, we’ll take it on the chin that our first weekend’s picks returned a modest amount of success, but throwing in an accumulator was always a little daring so here are a few more single bets to look out for.

Craig Kemp

Atletico Madrid to score over 2.5 goals against Almeria @ 21/20

Atletico Madrid put five past Rayo Vallecano in their sole La Liga home fixture so far and have scored at least twice in challenging away trips to Real Sociedad and Sevilla to maintain their 100-per-cent winning start.

Almeria have let in at least two in all three of their league outings, all against inferior opposition in comparison to Atletico.

Udinese to beat Bologna @ 5/6

Udinese are unbeaten at home since the opening day of last season when they were beaten by eventual Serie A champions Juventus and running back into the last campaign, they have taken maximum points in nine of their last 10 fixtures.

Bologna have made a habit of starting seasons slowly in the last few years and won’t build on their start which has seen them take a solitary point from their two opening fixtures.

Christian Crowther

Under 2.5 goals in Lyon v Rennes @ 4/5

After a promising start in Ligue 1, where Lyon won their opening two games convincingly, they’ve now lost the last four in all competitions, scoring just once.

Meanwhile, opponents Rennes have undertaken a patchy start to their campaign and drew 0-0 in their last game. Five out of the last six meetings between the two, including the last three straight, have gone south of the 2.5 goals-mark as well.

Monaco to win to nil v Lorient @ 11/10

Lorient have struggled on the road already this season, losing twice without scoring, including a 2-0 defeat against struggling Guingamp.

Now they face this daunting trip to face the new powerhouses of French football, Monaco, where Radamel Falcao and Emmanuel Riviere have formed a formidable partnership, accounting for all eight of their league goals between them so far.
