Published:During Jose Mourinho’s first stint as Chelsea boss the Portuguese made Stamford Bridge a barren place for visiting sides in the Premier League and with two home wins already the Blues are shaping up well in west London again.
History tells us that Chelsea at 21/10 is a handsome looking bet to accrue the most home points this season.
Perhaps the greatest legacy of Mourinho’s successful spell in charge of Chelsea – where he claimed the title twice in 2004/05 and then the 2005/06 campaign – was turning the Bridge into Fort Knox for opposing teams looking to steal points.

Chelsea would go on to make it a Premier League record of 86 consecutive home league games undefeated after Mourinho’s September ’07 departure, while this theme lived on with Mourinho at both Inter and Real Madrid.
A run which began at Porto ended with Mourinho overseeing 150 unbeaten home games at four different clubs between February ’02 and March 2011, which ended at Real Madrid.
Unsurprisingly, the dominant force in this particular Premier League side bet over the years has been the 13-time champions Manchester United.
Under Sir Alex Ferguson, the Red Devils managed to top the home-points tally in five of the last seven seasons since Mourinho’s Chelsea last scooped it, but a shaky start has seen them lengthen to the unfamiliar position of 4/1 shots.
Manchester City are the 13/10 favourites in this market to repeat the success they had when winning the title in 2011/12.
