Mark Hughes set to struggle against Manchester City again

Whatever Mark Hughes says about having no hard feelings about his dismissal at Manchester City, there is no doubt he will be keen to get one over his former club at the Britannia.

However, Hughes’ sides have struggled against City since he left them in 2009, and they will be delighted to see a change in manager at Stoke.

Man City never won at Stoke in the Premier League when Tony Pulis was in charge, although they did triumph 1-0 at the Britannia in last season’s FA Cup.

The Premier League runners-up are 4/6 to win at the Britannia, with the draw priced at 5/2 and a home win available at 9/2.

Of his four matches against Man City since being fired, Hughes has only played at home once. Ironically that was his worst result against the Citizens, losing 4-1 with Fulham.

He drew 1-1 with the Cottagers at the Etihad, before losing twice there with QPR, most famously in the game that settled the 2011/12 title race.

Both teams have scored in the four matches, and in five of City’s last six visits to the Britannia, making backing both teams to net at 9/10 a good option.

In five visits to Stoke in the Premier League, City have drawn 1-1 four times and lost once, but with Hughes now at the helm and having experienced victory in the FA Cup in their most recent trip down the M6, they will be confident of three points.

After scoring in his past two Premier League matches, Alvaro Negredo could displace Edin Dzeko in the starting 11, and the Spaniard is a good bet to bag the opening goal at 9/2.
