Maldonado great value to make amends in Singapore

As the F1 season heads to the streets of Singapore it would take a brave man to bet against championship leader Sebastian Vettel.
The three-time champion is on course for a fourth consecutive title and at 11/8 to win at the Marina Bay Street Circuit after taking the chequered flag for the last two years it seems a foregone conclusion yet again.
As such, value hunters could be tempted to look elsewhere and the 9/2 offered on a points finish for Pastor Maldonado should certainly attract attention.
The Venezuelan is just three years into his formula one career but is pretty much a household name due to his penchant for crashing out or retiring from races.
Williams-Renault’s number one driver has bagged points just once this year – in Hungary – and has either failed to finish or taken the chequered flag in 11th place or lower in all his other drives.
However, he was extremely unlucky on his last trip to Singapore, where an excellent qualifying drive saw him start from second on the grid.
A solid display saw him on course for a podium finish but hydraulic issues forced another early bath.
Maldonado is a clear talent and boasts a proven ability to tackle the challenges of street racing meaning only another car fault or poor decision will stop him finishing among the top 10.
Elsewhere, Force India’s Paul di Resta should appeal at 6/4 for a top 10 finish after scoring points in seven of his first eight races, the Scot has failed to finish his last two races so is a better price than perhaps he should be here.
Sauber’s Nico Hulkenburg – although a short priced 11/10 – also warrants consideration after a season-best 5th place in Monza.
The German has now claimed a top 10 in three of his last five races and looks to be peaking at just the right time for the season’s home straight.
