Late goals between Sunderland and Arsenal worth backing

Published:

In-form Arsenal should put Sunderland to the sword at the Stadium of Light, though the Black Cats can find a way through the Gunners’ rearguard in the closing stages.

Both Aston Villa, who actually found a way past Arsenal’s defence on three occasions, and Fulham, have managed to notch after the 75-minute mark against the Londoners in the Premier League this season already.

On this evidence it might well pay dividends if punters take a slice of Ladbrokes’ 20/21 offering that a goal is scored by either team in the last 15 minutes.

However, it’s not just Arsenal’s early-season generosity in the closing stages of Premier League games which makes this an attractive bet.

For starters, in Sunderland’s last home game against Milton Keynes Dons, albeit in the Capital One Cup, the hosts saved all four of their goals until after the 75-minute mark, registering in the 78th, 87th, 89th and 90th minute.

Meanwhile, the Black Cats’ last league game before the internationals witnessed two more goals finding the back of Kieren Westwood’s net post-75 minutes.

Crystal Palace scored in both the 79th and 90th minutes during that 3-1 victory, while Southampton also popped up with an 88th-minute equaliser in Sunderland’s second league game of their fledgling campaign.

It may also be worth noting that the Gunners have been pretty productive between the 60th and 75th-minute this season, notching between these times in half of their six games in all competitions to date.

Ladbrokes are offering 31/20 that the scoreboard changes during this period yet again on Wearside.

Given all the above stats it only seems natural to add a further bet to the list and that’s the second half producing more goals than the first at odds of 11/10.
