Ladbrokes top price on one of the X Factor frontrunners

Contestants having more than one crack at the X Factor is nothing new. After all, Alexandra Burke had already been sent home at the judges house stage in a previous year before returning to win the competition.

Among those chancing their arm again this year is Joseph Whelan, who is 12/1 to win the X Factor, and Jade Richards at 25/1, who are both through to boot camp.

However, no contestant has been as dedicated to making a success of the X Factor as Melanie McCabe, who is currently appearing on the talent show for the fourth time.

She has previously failed to make the live shows in 2008, 2011 and then last year, with her best result so far coming when making it to Kelly Rowland’s house before being sent home.

What can be said previously is that Melanie has not enjoyed anywhere close to the same airtime as some of the competition in her respective category.

This has changed this year, with the X Factor disclosing more of her back story and showing far longer snippets of her auditions.

People can read into this differently, but one viewpoint is that she is receiving more of a push this year, which also allows her to make a greater connection to the public.

Ladbrokes are currently offering the top price on Melanie winning the X Factor at 7/1 and there is a strong possibility that she will be handed one of the spots on the live shows for the first time, with Nicole Scherzinger in charge of the girls category.

If she does make the live shows, Irish acts do tend to do well, with Eoghan Quigg, Jedward and Janet Devlin all making the latter stages.

An Irish winner is still yet to come from the X Factor, but Melanie looks the most likely from the nation in 2013.

All Odds and Markets are correct as of the date of publishing.
