Eagles to take an early bite out of Laudrup’s Swans

An opening quartet of matches that included trips to Stoke and Man United, and a home tie with Spurs, was never going to be an easy Premier League return for Crystal Palace.

However, they picked up their first points with an impressive 3-1 win against Sunderland and are 11/5 to claim another success here against Swansea.

Swansea are 13/10 for a second league victory of the campaign, and a draw can be had at 23/10.

Ian Holloway’s men will look to take advantage of a European hangover following the Welsh side’s excellent Europa League victory in midweek against Valencia, in what will be Swansea’s third game in six days.

Palace’s downfall though has been their second-half displays, where they have conceded in every game this season, including their League Cup second round defeat at Bristol City.

The London club have, however, taken the lead twice – against Stoke and Sunderland – to lead at the interval, and they face a side which has conceded four times in the opening period already – the most of any Premier League club.

With Michael Laudrup’s troops having played in midweek, a Half-time/Full-time of Crystal Palace/Draw at 14/1 could prove a shrewd bet.

Some may fancy the Swans to produce a victorious comeback, just as Stoke did, and a Half-Time/Full-Time of Crystal Palace/Swansea at 20/1 could find favour with many.

Laudrup has continued to mould the League Cup winners into his own over the summer, bringing in Wilfried Bony and Jonjo Shelvey among others, and the squad certainly boasts the required talent to do something they failed to do on five occasions last season and turn over a newly-promoted side.

It was Bony who opened the scoring in that Valencia win – his first for the club since the Europa League play-offs against Malmo – and the forward is a tempting 7/4 to score anytime at Selhurst Park.
