Coventry v Colchester: Goal glut to enthral Sixfields spectators

Published:

Coventry City supporters may not have been overly impressed with the news that they would have to commute to Northampton in order to watch their team play home games, but those that have made the journey can’t deny they’ve been getting value for money.

The Sky Blues’ two ‘home’ fixtures thus far have yielded an incredible 17 goals – a 5-4 win over Bristol City followed up with a 4-4 tie with Preston – so it’s only natural to err on the side of over 2.5 goals when Colchester rock up at the Sixfields Stadium.

The 3/4 Ladbrokes are offering for those willing to ride the overs bandwagon seems very reasonable given the sheer tidal wave of goals that’s swamped Coventry’s adopted home, but when you consider the fact that the U’s haven’t failed to find the back of the net in seven outings this season this bet further appreciates in value.

True enough, only one of the visitors’ League One clashes would have seen this bet cop, but if they continue their rich scoring streak it’s difficult to see how this figure won’t double.

Still, if you remain unconvinced, lump on the 8/11 that says both teams will score here.

It’s occurred in each of the past three renewals between these two sides, which, ironically, have also all produced considerably more than 2.5 goals.

A total of 14 have been served up in 270 minutes of fooball and, what’s more, is that akin to Joe Dunne’s side, the troubled Midlands outfit have also not failed to score this season, notching at least two in all but one of their games so far.

This pleads a reasonable case to back over 2.5 Coventry goals here at 23/10, while over 1.5 strikes for Steven Pressley’s men looks a solid safety net at 9/4.

If you’re not one to stray too far from the beaten track of match betting stakes, the hosts come into the game as 4/5 favourites, with Colchester at 7/2 and the draw a 5/2 alternative.
