Torres may perform Liverpool U-turn while Arsenal also hover
Published:The arrival of Samuel Eto’o at Chelsea could well bring down the curtain on Fernando Torres’ indifferent Stamford Bridge career.
The market says it’s touch-and-go that Torres stays a Blue, with 2/5 being offered by Ladbrokes that the Spaniard will remain to fight it out for just one place, alongside Romelu Lukaku, Eto’o and Demba Ba.
But, in a World Cup year and with plenty of clubs searching for the services of a striker, Torres’ best move could well be one which takes him away from west London.
Staying in the capital, however, may not be out of the question. After missing out very publically on Luis Suarez and Gonzalo Higuain, Arsene Wenger is surely still in the market for another top class front man to lighten the load on Olivier Giroud’s shoulders.
Therefore the 10/1 on a move to Arsenal before the end of the window is possibly the most appealing price in the shortlist currently, as the one-time terroriser of Premier League defences is sure to be pawned off at much lower price than the mind-pickling £50m Chelsea forked out on him.

Something in the region of £15-20m seems a price even wallet-watching Wenger would stretch too. Meanwhile, there are whispers gathering momentum that the player could make a sensational switch back to Anfield, just two-and-a-half years after leaving Liverpool for that British transfer record.
This would of course set-up the dream strike force of Suarez-Torres that many Reds’ fans had envisaged, however, much bad blood has been created since and, the 5/1 needs some positive noises from Brendan Rodgers to back it up.
It’s certainly not out of the question, though, especially if Rodgers is secretly resigned to losing Suarez in January.
A return to Spain with Valencia at 8/1 looks to be his best option of a move away from England after they lost Roberto Soldado to Tottenham.
