Surprise win for Augsburg heads a super Sunday of European football

Published:

As the Sunday action in Europe kicks off, we’ve put together a four-fold that pays around 9/1 and looks set to whet appetites among those who follow continental football with Ladbrokes.

Augsburg to beat Stuttgart @ 11/5

This match up sees two teams in something of indifferent form in the opening stages of this years’ Bundesliga, with both teams having lost their opening two matches of the season.

Stuttgart’s uncharacteristically bad start to the season should work in favour of Ausburg, who have one win from their three matches played to date, and doubled with their comfortable 3-0 win at home last season over the 2007 champions should see the Bavarian’s take a first League victory of the campaign.

At 11/5 to take all three points, this represents good value for those who fancy Ausburg to upset the odds against Bruno Labbadia’s side.

Inter to beat Genoa @ 3/5

Inter Milan get their league season under way against the side which held them to two draws in the league last season. Unsurprisingly, Inter lead the head-to-head standing in convincing style with 11 league wins to Genoa’s four. Although last season’s results were disappointing for Inter, they need only to look at their results in the 2011/12 season which saw them hit eight goals in three league and cup games.

With a morale boosting two wins in cup competitions already this season, it is little surprise that Inter head the betting against the side who recorded a 17th placed finish last season, and at 3/5 a win for the Milan giants looks to be all but assured.

PSG to beat Nantes @ 8/15

You have to go back to 2004 to find the last time Nantes recorded a victory over big hitting Paris St Germain in Ligue 1. Since then, the Parisians have won six of their eight meetings with the side who were promoted last season back into the top division of French football.

Despite opening their season with two draws, it would be little surprise if a Zlatan Ibrahimovic lead PSG side opened their account in style at La Beaujoire-Louis Fonteneau.

Barcelona and Malaga: Both teams to score @ 17/20

Whilst there is little value in backing a Lionel Messi-less Barcelona to take victory against lowly Malaga, there may well be more to offer in the both teams to score market.

With Barca’s back line having leaked a goal against Atletico Madrid in the first leg of the Spanish Super Cup this week, there may be some hope for a Malaga forward line featuring Paraguayan hit man Roque Santa Cruz.

Eight goals from 30 games for Santa Cruz whist on loan at the Costa Del Sol based club last season, the former Blackburn Rovers and ManchesterCity striker will pose something of a problem to Carols Puyol and co.

Backing both teams to score at 17/20 looks to be the best value in this Spanish clash.

With these four outcomes, this accumulator pays around 9/1 with Ladbrokes.
