Spurs only Premier League club to profit from Real Madrid player sales
Published:There has certainly been no shortage of speculation linking the current squad at Real Madrid with moves to the Premier League during the summer transfer window.
Cristiano Ronaldo looked to be on course to return to Manchester United at one point, Fabio Coentrao was seen as the answer to Tottenham’s left-back conundrum and Arsenal have been mentioned in the same sentence as all of Iker Casillas, Mesut Ozil, Angel Di Maria and Karim Benzema.
Predicting the number of Real Madrid players that will play in the Premier League this season does appear to be pure guesswork at first glance, but there is a feeling that exactly one will sign, which can be backed at 11/4.
The obvious candidate is Coentrao and his likelihood of leaving Real Madrid has been boosted by developments that the club have agreed a deal with Granada for the highly-regarded Guilherme Siqueira.
Carlo Ancelotti has previously stated that Coentrao has asked to leave the Bernabeu and there have been some reports that he would be included in the Gareth Bale deal to join Real Madrid.
Andre Villas-Boas has clearly made a conscious effort to bolster his midfield options this summer and his transfer dealings have somewhat resembled a new game of Football Manager, with the number of new faces quickly closing in on double figures.
Some new defenders are still expected yet too, with Coentrao potentially joining alongside Vlad Chiriches from Steaua Bucharest.
As for the others, Ozil and Di Maria are said to have snubbed any approach from Arsenal for their services and are determined to fight for their Real Madrid places, while the former has also turned down Manchester United.
In terms of the number of Real Madrid players to feature in the Premier League this season, it is 5/1 that zero do, 13/8 for two to make the move from Spain to England, 3/1 that three arrive and 8/1 that it is four or more.
