Scunthorpe, Bury, Exeter and Rovers to secure home wins

Published:

Scunthorpe, Bury, Exeter and Bristol Rovers all look set to collect three points from their upcoming League Two contests.

And it’s home advantage that’s likely to prove crucial to the chances of a number of sides across the division.

This accumulator pays just over 20/1 and firmly places our faith in the tried and tested football logic that playing on home turf has its benefits.

And these four selections are more than ready to further enhance that theory.

Bristol Rovers v Northampton – Rovers to win @ 5/4

Not many sides relish a trip to the Memorial Stadium and Northampton will be no different having lost their last three in the blue and white half of Bristol.

It gets worse for the Cobblers. Aidy Boothroyd’s visitors have only won once in their previous 11 away matches, losing six of those contests.

Meanwhile, Rovers have lost only one of their previous nine at home in League Two and they look a good bet to inflict more misery upon their underwhelming guests.

Bury v Cheltenham – Bury to win @ 13/10

Bury are starting to find form following a complete squad overhaul during the summer. And getting the locals back onside could be key to a potential promotion bid.

The Shakers may have lost their last three at Gigg Lane to Cheltenham, however winning four of their last five at home in all competitions gives a better snapshot of more recent form.

And with the Robins collecting maximum points just twice in their past 10 on the road, losing five of their last eight away, Bury’s rebuilding project looks set to gather more momentum.

Exeter v York City – Exeter to win @ 21/20

York have lost both of their away league games this season and their poor form on their travels could prove to be a major handicap to any aspirations of progress.

Meanwhile, the Grecians are hoping their troubles at St. James Park are now behind them.

They’ve successfully seen off the challenges of Bristol Rovers and AFC Wimbledon respectively in recent weeks.

And Paul Tisdale’s side can also take confidence from the fact that they’ve only lost one of their last six to York, collecting four points from the pair’s encounters last term.

Scunthorpe v Newport – Scunthorpe to win @ 21/20

Newport’s flying start to their first Football League season in 25 years can’t go unnoticed.

But outside of Wales they could struggle and a trip to Glandford Park isn’t likely to see them return home with too much joy.

Scunthorpe are formidable on their own patch and unbeaten in their last five in Lincolnshire while County have registered one point from both of their Football League trips so far.

That total looks unlikely to increase following this contest.
