Reputations matter with Rogers Cup treble set to reap big rewards

Published:

With the big names in tennis advancing to the business end of the Rogers Cup there are plenty of reasons to continue backing the leading lights and take advantage of the value they represent.

The following treble returns a massive £216.67 from a £10 stake and throws our weight behind the ATP and WTA contenders we believe will advance to the latter stages in Canada.

Rafael Nadal v Jerzy Janowicz – Nadal to win 2-0 4/9

Emerging Polish talent Jerzy Janowicz hit the headlines during Wimbledon. However, his hard court form this year has been inconsistent, losing four of his nine games played on the surface this season.

Indian Wells winner Rafael Nadal was a winner of this tournament back in 2005 and the Spaniard showed no mercy when dispatching of Jesse Levine 6-2, 6-0 in the second round.

And the fact he’s only dropped two sets in a six-match undefeated streak on tarmac suggests Janowicz could also be put to the sword.

Ana Ivanovic v Na Li – Na Li to win 2-1 3/1

Both Ana Ivanovic and Na Li are in good hard court form. But we’re giving the latter the nod to edge this contest given the higher calibre of opponent she’s dispatched of this season.

Victories against Agnieszka Radwanska and Maria Sharapova en-route to the Australian Open final in January stand out. Although, we still fancy Ivanonic to take a set, much like she’s done in six of her nine defeats on the surface this year.

Petra Kvitova v Samantha Stosur – Kvitova to win 2-1 11/4

Sam Stosur is the player in form having recently beaten Viktoria Azarenka to win in Carlsbad.

However, Petra Kvitova has defeated the Australian in four of their previous five encounters. And the Czech player’s own hard court heroics in 2013 shouldn’t be forgotten either.

Kvitova saw off the challenges of Sara Errani, Agnieszka Radwanska and Ana Ivanonic to take the Dubai title in January.

A £10 treble on the selections mentioned above returns £216.67.
