Man City made a habit of trouncing sides immediately after losing Premier League matches last season, a habit they seamlessly continued by sacking Newcastle 4-0 on day one, having finished the last campaign with a shock 3-2 loss to Norwich. Sufficiently riled by defeat to Cardiff, City’s plethora of big hitters can take it all out on newly promoted Hull.
You probably couldn’t find two less potent attacks in the top flight. Both sides are frantically searching for a crumb of identity following many new faces, so with a combined tally of two goals from four Premier league games to date, fans should take along a good book.
You have to go back eight league games to the last time this hostile fixture didn’t produce goals at either end, while only two of the last 12 in all competitions between these old foes witnessed only one side score.
This derby fixture has set the goal-scoring bar higher than any other in the Premier League. Arsenal have triumphed 5-2 on both of Tottenham’s last two visits, while eight straight meetings have required both keepers to pick the ball out of their net.
