Not out of the question that Bale plays some part against Arsenal

Gary Lineker has been making up on Twitter that the north London derby will mark Gareth Bale’s farewell appearance in a Tottenham shirt and 10/1 is the price that the Welshman starts against Arsenal at the Emirates.

Given that Bale scored in both meetings with the enemy last season and has been on target in two of his last three visits to the Emirates, even if he is to depart Spurs, supporters are sure to be appreciative of one last masterclass.

In fact, Bale’s five goals against Arsenal is more than he has netted against any other club and it is 5/1 that he gets the opportunity to increase this sum by coming off the substitute’s bench.

However, with Tottenham having won both league games without Bale thus far and so much money riding on his departure; whether it be to Real Madrid, Manchester United or anyone else, it is unlikely that he will be called upon.

The big question is whether a deal will be signed before the derby or on the day the transfer window closes, which is also the day after Spurs face Arsenal.

So much other transfer activity seems to hinge on the Bale situation, with Real Madrid seemingly unwilling to ship out any of their squad players until the signing is confirmed, which is predominantly hindering Arsenal.

Tottenham certainly have some revenge on their mind in the derby as they have lost 5-2 on each of their last two trips to the Emirates.

It is 100/1 that Arsenal win 5-2 again, with 11/10 the price that the Gunners simply secure the three points.

Spurs are 11/5 to retain their 100 per cent-winning Premier League start to the campaign by beating Arsenal for the fifth time in nine meetings.
