Man City v Hull: Hosts to show Chelsea just how to maul Tigers

| 30.08.2013

Hell hath no fury like a top Premier League team scorned. After embarrassment at Cardiff, expect Manchester City to give Hull their first pounding back in the big time.

To be fair to Hull and Steve Bruce, the Tigers actually performed admirably at Chelsea in their opening league fixture to keep it to 2-0, when many (including this writer) had predicted a lambs-to-the-slaughter scenario unfolding.

However, where Chelsea failed to fully maul the Tigers, expect a wounded Man City side to show no such mercy, particularly as they have four world class strikers at their disposal, whereas Chelsea questionably had zilch until the arrival of Samuel Eto’o.

City thrashed Newcastle 4-0 at the Etihad on day one and of more concern for Hull fans is that this carried on a trend of backlash-victories from last season, after City lost 3-2 to Norwich on the final day.

If you’re already feeling the theme then open a new account HERE and lump on a big Man City win, but do read on for further convincing.

Of the five other Premier League games they lost last term, the very next game saw them win every time, scoring four times on three occasions, three on another and two the last time.

To start the betting then, grab a fistful of 8/11 on Man City to score over 2.5 goals in the match, but don’t stop there, definitely take a piece of 9/4 on the hosts breaching the 3.5 goals line again.

As was the case in four of those five bounce-back games last season and against the Toon on day one of this, City wasted no time opening the floodgates, notching exactly twice before the break – making evens on over 1.5 goals in the first half ripe for the picking as well.

Finally, take your pick from the myriad of potential first goalscorer options City have in their armoury, but having started with Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero in their two games to date, either one at 7/2 is great value.
