London suburb revealed to be luckiest for winning football accumulators

It’s official: Chingford is the luckiest place in Britain. In football betting terms, that is.

The London suburb saw the highest return on football accumulators last season in the UK.

Totting up bets that returned winnings of over £5,000 each, the total paid out to punters in Chingford topped half a million pounds.

This was nearly twice as much as Glasgow, which was found to be second luckiest place of all.

“There must be something in the water in Chingford. Football fans there clearly have the magic touch when it comes to landing huge wins”, said Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes.

Liverpool came third in the list, where close to quarter of a million was won, while the tiny Welsh town of Tylorstown (population 4,100) in the Rhondda Valley saw just over £200,000 paid out, coming 6th in the table.

“Punters in Tylorstown have also been studying the form. We’ve never known one village land so much cash on footy bets”, added Mr Donohue.

Amazingly, more money was paid out for successful accumulator bets in Tylorstown than the entire West End of London.

To date, the record amount paid out for a football accumulator in relation to stake is £272,529.60 for a £2.50 nine-fold place in Berkshire in January 2011.
