Liverpool’s summer raid of La Liga’s less fashionable clubs may not be over just yet as the Reds are reportedly locked in talks with Granada over a deal to bring Guilherme Siqueira to Anfield.

Having already snaffled the likes of Iago Aspas from Celta Vigo and Luis Alberto from Sevilla, Brendan Rodgers has focused his attentions on gaining some cover in the left-back position as he eyes up another Spaniard.

The 27-year-old left-back, Siqueira, has really impressed in his spell at Granada since joining from Italian club Udinese in 2011 and has even attracted attention from Real Madrid.

It seems the Livepool gaffer’s faith in youngsters hasn’t stretched to teenage left-back Jack Robinson who has been loaned out to Blackpool for the whole season, despite already boasting 11 first team appearances on Merseyside.

What this means however, is that Rodgers must now bring in a replacement as Luis Enrique is now the only recognised left full-back within the squad.

A situation which is of course compounded by Stewart Downing’s Anfield exit to West Ham, as the former Aston Villa man was drafted in at times to cover Enrique’s favoured slot last season.

When you look at the strength of all their rivals in this position, it is paramount Liverpool fortify in this area if they are to attain their 13/8 rated dream to break back into the top four in 2013.

At Arsenal, Arsene Wenger has Kieran Gibbs and Nacho Monreal fighting it out for one spot, while Danny Rose and Benoit Assou-Ekotto are both specialist left-backs at White Hart Lane.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are blessed with Patrice Evra and Alexander Buttner, Man City can call on Gael Clichy and Aleksandar Kolarov and Chelsea have English duo Ashley Cole and Ryan Bertrand vying for the same spot.

Although Daniel Agger has potential to play there, he must stay central to be most effective for Liverpool.
