League 2 Acca: Fleetwood and Rochdale tipped for away day success

Published:

There are few things better in football than a successful away day but one of them is a winning acca.

With that in mind, we’ve picked the four away teams that look most likely to board the team bus with smiles on their faces in this bet that pays just over 40/1.

Rochdale to beat Plymouth @ 19/10

Plymouth pulled off arguably the shock of last weekend in beating Cheltenham 3-1 after losing four in a row prior to that tie. However, Rochdale, who started their campaign with a win, stopped a two-game losing spell with a draw against Chesterfield and will be confident of a return to winning ways.

Dale are unbeaten in three against the Pilgrims and recorded a 1-0 victory over John Sheridan’s men on the final day of last season and on paper the Dale squad has more than enough to leave Home Park with all three points.

Newport to beat Dagenham & Redbridge @ 8/5

With just one win in four games in all competitions confidence is far from high at Victoria Road.

Newport, meanwhile, have ultimately emerged victorious on all but one occasion this term and the defeat to Northampton came after some mid-week heroics which saw Justin Edinburgh’s men dispatch the Championship’s Brighton in the League Cup.

The Exiles bounced back from the Northampton defeat with victory over Bristol Rovers and can be expected to bag all three points here.

Fleetwood to beat Hartlepool @ 5/4

A 3-2 home loss to Burton last time out knocked the wind out of Fleetwood’s sails after the Cod Army recorded victories in their first two league ties of the campaign.

However, the fixture list has gifted Graham Alexander’s side a game against Hartlepool, who could barely have had a worse start to the season.

Pools held out for a draw last weekend to earn them their first point of the term, but one point and no goals from three league games is the sort of form that will have Fleetwood licking their lips.

Cheltenham to beat Accrington Stanley @ 7/5

Neither of these sides has had the start they would have liked to their season, with both yet to register a league win thus far.

And while both are suffering from leaky defences – with Stanley shipping nine and Cheltenham conceding seven – it is Mark Yates’ men that should be backed here.

The Robins have won two of their last three away ties with Accrington and ran out 3-0 winners when they last visited the Crown Ground.
