Leeds v QPR: Unbeaten hosts may be overpriced

Published:

He may resemble the forgotten brother of television chef Heston Blumenthal but current Leeds boss Brian McDermott does appear to be cooking up something special at Elland Road.

The Yorkshire club have made a positive start to the current campaign, winning two and drawing two of their opening four league fixtures to remain unbeaten thus far this term.

One thing McDermott appears to have instilled in his players is a never-say-die attitude that has seen them come from behind twice, against Brighton and Ipswich, to secure wins.

All of which makes odds of 10/3 on a Leeds victory with over 2.5 goals scored in the match a tempting prospect, especially when you factor in that the Yorkshiremen have won 2-1 and 3-1 in the last two rounds of the League Cup.

Much could depend on the form of front man Ross McCormack, with the 27-year-old bang in form with three goals in his last three and available at odds of 7/4 to score at any time.

Backing the Scot to score and Leeds to win, something which has happened in three of their last four victories in all competitions is also available at 10/3.

And while a 3-1 win over in-form Yorkshire rivals Doncaster in the League Cup will have likely boosted morale at Leeds a 2-0 home defeat to League One Swindon may have had the opposite effect at visiting opponents QPR.

Harry Redknapp may have continued the spending as the Londoners look for an immediate return to the top-flight but the goals have yet to flow for the Hoops.

Three wins and a draw from their opening four fixtures is no mean feat, but Rangers have yet to put in a performance worthy of the quality they have throughout their squad.

A 90th minute winner over Ipswich, and a stuttering draw against lowly Huddersfield showed some of the chinks in the QPR armour and Leeds could be the team to do serious damage.

Two wins from their last eight away fixtures tells its own story, but if the London side are to live up to their billing as favourites to win at 6/4 much could depend on Andy Johnson

The ex-Palace man has three goals to his name this term and is available at 7/4 to score any time.

With an unlikely draw available at 23/10, goals still look likely and with 10/11 on over 2.5 combined goals being scored, this could be one match to set you up nicely at the start of the weekend.
