Ian McCall has more than enough quality to seal our UFC treble

Published:

UFC 163 rolls into Brazil and that means plenty of domestic fighters on the undercard bidding to burst onto the scene in their backyard.

Below is a cast-iron treble to get the night rolling.

Vinny Magalaes to beat Anthony Perosh @ 2/9

Anthony Perosh asked for this fight and he may live to regret such an ambitious request. Perosh has made his name by virtue of his attributes in the grappling department – the Australian has seven career submission victories to his name – but he has called out one of the best grapplers in all of MMA. Magalaes will be desperate to get this fight on the ground to show Perosh who is the true master in their shared department and when that happens the dream could be over for the 41-year-old from Sydney.

Sheila Gaff to beat @ Amanda Nunes @ 1/4

Sheila Gaff didn’t get much of an opportunity to show her ability when suffering a short debut at the hands of Olympic wrestling medallist Sara McMann and another disappointing experience could be in waiting. Gaff’s next opponent is the unpredictable Amanda Nunes who has struggled to find any rhythm in her latest performances but back in her home country of Brazil she should dominate in the fight like she is in the market. Whereas Gaff is moving up in weight, Nunes moves down to 135lb from featherweight competition and it could be too much power to deal with for the German raider.

Ian McCall to beat IIiarde Santos @ 1/4

It would be easy to underestimate Ian McCall by just giving a glance to his Octagon record of 0-2-1, but the 21-year-old American should not be taken lightly as he looks to claim some momentum against home hope IIiarde Santos. McCall arrived on the scene as the top-rated 125-pound fighter in the sport but with understandable defeats to eventual champion Demetrious Johnson and the ever dangerous Joseph Benavidez his lofty reputation has faded. Veteran Santos has over 30 fights of experience to call upon but McCall should have more than enough talent to score.
