Elche to announce their arrival in La Liga as part of a 19/1 treble

Published:

The Primera Liga’s final set of opening round fixtures throw up some interesting encounters between teams who will look to assert themselves early on in the campaign.

Newly-promoted Elche, Almeria and Villarreal will want to prove they’re not going to be whipping boys this season. And Celta Vigo won’t want a repeat of last term’s relegation battle.

Our 19/1 Spanish treble backs Elche, Celta and Villarreal to do the business with plenty of reasons to support our case.

Rayo Vallecano v Elche – Elche to win @ 9/4

Segunda champions Elche will have been thrilled that they were paired with Vallecano for this opening fixture of their Primera Liga campaign. Los Ilicitanos (The Ones from Elche) are unbeaten in their previous 10 against the men from Madrid, with eight victories underlying their head-to-head supremacy.

Their previous meeting resulted in a 2-1 win for the visitors while Vallecano have failed to collect maximum points in their last five home league games, losing three of those contests.

Celta Vigo v Espanyol – Celta to win @ 5/4

Celta Vigo secured their top-flight status with a narrow 1-0 win over Espanyol in the corresponding fixture on the final day of last season. And their spirited finish to the campaign contrasted sharply with that of the returning visitors.

While Celta claimed four vital wins from their concluding seven matches, Espanyol limped over the line with five defeats in their last six games.

New Vigo manager Luis Enrique will be keen to get off to a positive start with the on-loan Rafael Alcantara, brother of Thiago, a noteworthy signing.

Almeria v Villarreal – Villarreal to win @ 7/4

Only three points separated these two promoted sides last season, with the away side coming out on top in the race for automatic promotion. The hosts defeated Villarreal 1-0 in a pre-season friendly, however they’ve failed to win any of their previous four league encounters.

And El Submarino Amarillo are likely to mark their return to the Primera Liga at the first time of asking with another morale-boosting success against the Andalusians.

The visitors suffered just one defeat in their closing 12 second division away games last season and with exciting signings such as Giovani dos Santos they look well-placed to assert themselves in the top-flight once again.
