David Haye to knock out ‘fool’ Tyson Fury

The war of words between British heavyweights David Haye (26-4 and 24KO) and Tyson Fury (21-0 and 15KO) has been cranked up a notch after the Bermondsey man labelled a Fury a “fool”.
There has been no love lost between the two in recent weeks, with Fury branding 32-year-old Haye a “mug” at the press conference and Haye in turn mocking Fury’s intelligence – or lack thereof – at any opportunity.
However, Haye has turned the heat up as fight night approaches and claimed that 25-year-old unbeaten Fury is being foolish by underestimating his power.
Haye has seen 24 of his 26 victims beaten by the count and while this would make many an opponent wary, Fury is convinced that his rival is no threat to his journey towards a title.
Fury is full of confidence – or bravado at least – at the best of times but after beating Steve Cunningham last time out he is convinced he can end the career of the Hayemaker.
Cunningham is a former cruiserweight who has stepped up a division for some of his recent bouts and Fury believes that Haye’s own cruiserweight past means he will not have the power to cause him problems.
Haye, however, is happy for Fury to underestimate him and believes that he and Cunningham could not be less similar.
“Fury needs confidence. He needs to make those comparisons. It’s false confidence, but it is confidence all the same,” he told the Daily Star.
“Unlike Cunningham, if I hit Tyson he’s not only going down, he’s going down for the count. There is only one way this fight is going to go.”
Haye’s confidence is backed up by the betting thus far, with the former cruiser and heavyweight champion priced as the 2/7 favourite.
Those of the belief that an upset could be on the cards can back Fury to all but send Haye into retirement at 11/4.
