Chiefs in line for more Super Rugby success

The Chiefs head into this Super Rugby Grand Final against the Brumbies with history backing them all the way.
They’re 3/10 to claim a second Championship in succession, and face a Brumbies side who have everything stacked against them.
Topping the overall standings by three points, the Chiefs saw off a stern challenge from the Crusaders to reach the final on home turf in Hamilton, New Zealand.
Their opponents from Canberra however are 11/4 to win having finished third in the standings – their best result since winning the Super Rugby in 2004 – and are bidding to become the first Champions not to place in the top two.
That third place finish saw them into a quarter-final match up with the Cheetahs, where success thrust Jake White’s men into a daunting last four clash with the Bulls.
A last-gasp try from Tevita Kuridriani gave the two-time champions a shock win over the South African side, and a place in the grand final.
Putting it simply, for the Brumbies to win they must become the first overseas team to win a play-off match in New Zealand and become the first team in 13 years to win a final outside of their home country.
The Brumbies have also lost their last three finals played outside of Canberra.
Brumbies haven’t played the Chiefs since March 2012 where the Kiwi team won 29-22 in Tauranga, and in 18 clashes since 1996 the New Zealand side again hold the advantage with 11 wins.
Home soil has been kind to the Chiefs this year, with Dave Rennie’s winning all but one of their games in Hamilton this season, while the Brumbies have lost four of their nine matches on their travels.
