Cardiff v Everton: Home draw no bet looks monster value

Published:

Given how tricky Everton seem to find winning away games, it is a really big surprise to see them as short as 5/4 to collect a first three points of the season at Cardiff.

True, Everton are travelling to Premier League newcomers, but, this is the same newcomers that have already beaten Manchester City at the Cardiff City Stadium and are unbeaten in eight on their own patch in all competitions.

Everton are winless in nine on their travels in all competitions and, in fact, they have only triumphed in eight of their last 36 encounters on the road.

Furthermore, in the last four seasons, they have only won three away games against opposition promoted from the Championship.

Having beaten Man City, the 21/10 on a Cardiff victory will look as appetising as a carrot to a rabbit to some punters, but safety first may be the name of the game and so the best bet on offer may prove the 5/4 on a home success in the draw no bet market.

Everton certainly love a draw. Not only has this been the result of Roberto Martinez’ first two league games in charge, but no top-flight club shared the points more than Everton in the last campaign either.

Key will be whether Cardiff can play with the same intensity as against Man City and whether their decision to allow the ball to be played fairly openly to the full-backs will be as effective.

Leighton Baines is undoubtedly a greater threat 35 yards from goal than Gael Clichy.

All five goals in this fixture were scored in the second half, while all four in Everton’s only away day at Norwich also came after the interval.

It is 11/10 that the second half features the most goals again.
